In 1968, Al Brands opened Brands Insurance Agency in Cincinnati, Ohio. Originally, operating out of his house, Al offered insurance for all types of business, including aviation, transportation, and general business. In the 1970’s, Brands began to specialize in Transportation coverage, specifically long haul trucking. In 1979, Al built an “A” frame building in West Chester, OH along I-75. Brands operated out of this facility until 2001 when they moved into their new, modern facility. The new building was built at the same location as the A-frame and will allow the agency to continue their rapid growth.
Since it's founding, Brands Insurance has been known in the trucking industry as a provider of "A" rated coverage, as well as "A" rated service. The agency is now licensed to sell insurance products in over 30 states, and the customers can be covered anywhere in the United States and Canada.
Commercial auto insurance requires an agent that understands the special requirements of the trucking industry. There are filings, bonds and certificates that are required in order to keep trucks moving. The goal of Brands Insurance has always been to take any concerns of insurance out of the insured’s mind, and to allow the customer to do what they do best - move freight.
We currently use state of the art account tracking systems that utilize the power of today’s computers and harness the widespread use of the Internet. Here at Brands, we believe that the less time we spend working on the background processes, the more time we can spend working with our customers.
As in the past, over 80% of new customers are the result of referrals from existing customers. Our contention is that taking care of existing customers and their concerns will help us grow to better serve all customers, because here at Brands the customer always comes first.
